Letter People

I am lucky to have the Letter People in my classroom.  They are a great addition to a Language Arts program in 4K.  They definitely get the kids attention!  My group loves to interact and relate to the puppets and in return are learning letters and sounds with these fun puppets, songs, and stories!

This week Ms. S visited our classroom, she taught us the s sound, how to be brave, how to make letters Ss, and words that begin with S. With every Letter Friend, we also do letter sorts and take a picture if that letter is in our name (first and last names)

We also got to have silly socks day and letter S show and tell!

shapes

One of my favorite math units is shapes.  It is so easy and fun to find shapes in our classroom!  Another idea that I love is doing is Shape Monsters.  I got this idea from Cheryl over at Primary Graffiti, the unit is available at her TPT store. After we spend at least 2 weeks talking about all the shapes we take some time to get creative and make the shape monsters.  This time we focused on Trapezoids.

We were also able to use our Smart Board for some shape sorting, identifying, and drawing.  A fun way to learn and review.

Chirstmas Time in 4K

We had a really good time leading up to Christmas!  Much of our time was spent preparing for our Christmas Program, but we managed to have some fun too!  One of may favorite things to do on our "party day" is to make gingerbread houses.  Since I have a small class it is very easy to do.  I use milk cartons and hot glue them closed and to the paper plates and guide the students in frosting and decorating.  Then I send them home with students after we have a quick frosted snack with the extra graham crackers.

We are also really lucky to be selected to decorate a tree in Cathedral Square with other schools in the area.   That is me in the yellow poncho.....we had fun, but the weather did not seem to cooperate, the kids didn't seem to mind at all though

Happy New Year!

I would like to say that my blog was just designed, but naturally school and life just got busy!  I am so happy with the final product from Megan at A Bird In Hand Design!  She was so patient, quick to respond, and just awesome! I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a blog design.

My New Year's resolution is of course to continue to blog!  This will be a resource for me and also my kiddos families to see what is going on in our classroom.  Happy New Year!
